Health Insurance
Foreigners who will be in Japan for one year or longer must join the National Health Insurance System which will cover 70% of your expenses incurred at medical institutions. You have to pay about 2,000yen per month to use the insurance.
After arriving in Japan, your tutor will explain to you how to join this insurance system.
For international students who have bought the insurance, 80% of your out-of-pocket costs will be reimbursed by JASSO (Japanese Student Services Organization), which means you end up only having to pay 6% of the total bill.
