Pre-Arrival Information

Your first arrival airport in Japan will be one of the following airports: Fukuoka International Airport (FUK), New Tokyo International Airport (NRT), Kansai International Airport (KIX), Central Japan International Airport (NGO), and Kumamoto Airport.
If you will arrive at Fukuoka Airport, we recommend that you to take a highway bus from Fukuoka Airport or Hakata Bus Center to Kumamoto Bus Terminal (called "Kumamoto Kotsu Senta" in Japanese). The trip will take about two hours and cost approximately 2,000yen.
You should make a phone call to the relevant person and tell him/her your time of departure for Kumamoto before you leave Fukuoka.
If you will arrive at an airport other than Fukuoka, you should apply for transit to Kumamoto Airport.
You will then be met by faculty/staff members of Kumamoto University at Kumamoto Airport.
