School of Pharmacy
Yakugakubu
The School of Pharmacy based on the philosophy that pharmaceutical sciences are integrated science that contributes to mankind through medical treatment. The school has students acquire a basic knowledge in areas related to the creation, production, and management of pharmaceutical products, as well in environmental, health/sanitation, and other skills required to be a pharmacist. The school strives to produce creative graduates who can complete the highest levels of pharmaceutical thought as well as basic logic, both of which serve as a basis for life science. The school conducts basic practical training and clinical training together with modern lectures that focus on education from three perspectives of knowledge, technique, and behavior toward clients.
After graduating, students go on to work in various fields, whether as pharmacists at hospitals and pharmacies, pharmaceutical and chemical companies, or at government and other public offices. However, over half of the graduates continue their education at graduate schools to become either a pharmaceutical researcher or advanced pharmacist.
In 2006, the Pharmaceutical Sciences Course was split into the School of Pharmacy, a six-year course for the cultivation of pharmacists, and the School of Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences, a four-year course focusing on the training of researchers.
