Support for international students who are in financial trouble due to the sharp appreciation of the yen
Kumamoto University has decided to provide emergency assistance to privately funded international students whose financial situation has suddenly changed due to the sharp appreciation of the yen. The assistance will be provided through the Kumamoto University Support Association for International Students with funds raised from the faculty members of Kumamoto University.
The association is offering interest-free loans of 50,000 yen per student, to privately funded international students. The loans will be implemented as follows:

Contents of assistance: Financial assistance offered to international students in the form of loans from the support association.
Amount: 50,000 yen (interest-free)
Eligibility Qualifications:
1) Privately funded international students whose period of stay is 6 months or more.
2) Students who have not received scholarships.
How to apply: In person to the support association, through the International Student Office by using the specified application form.
Determination of Eligibility: The support association approves loans individually based on the application form
Opening date for application: December 18, 2008
