Kumamoto University signed academic and student exchange agreements with Dalian University of Technology
Kumamoto University signed the university-level academic and student exchange agreements with Dalian University of Technology (DUT) on December 1, 2006. The signing ceremony was held at Kumamoto University, for which Prof. Ou Jinping, President of the DUT, visited Kumamoto together with the delegation members.
The Faculty of Engineering and the Graduate School of Science and Technology of Kumamoto University and DUT concluded the faculty-level academic agreement in 2002, and since then two universities have exchanged numbers of faculties and researchers mainly in the field of Environmental Engineering. Both universities also have built up a relationship through activities of the "Yellow Sea Rim University Presidents Forum" organized by Japanese, Chinese and Korean universities.
DUT is one of the key universities under the direct leadership of the State Ministry of Education, China. With the support of "the 985 Project" and "the 211 Project", DUT has developed as a center of excellence of research, education and university-industry cooperation in the northeast area of China.
As of 2005, Kumamoto University had university-level agreements only with two universities located in Shanghai and Guilin in the southen area of China. By concluding new agreement with DUT in Dailin, our academic netwark in China is expected to be more strenghten and developed. Last September, Kumamoto University signed the academic agreement with Korean Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon, Korea. Regrading the establishment of academic and educational network especially in the East Asia, the international cooperation policy of Kumamoto University has made progress.
