Courtesy Visit from the Guilin University of Technology
On July 14, as part of an interdepartmental academic exchange agreement being carried out by the Faculty of Engineering and the Graduate School of Science and Technology, a delegation of 11 members from the Guilin University of Technology led by Prof. Zhou Dejian met with the University president.
The Guilin University of Technology is located in Guilin City, which is the main city in Guangxi Province,
which in turn Kumamoto Prefecture has a sister-prefecture relationship with. The Chinese government has recognized the University for its distinguished educational research in the field of engineering.
The Faculty of Engineering and the Graduate School of Science and Technology established an exchange agreement with the university in 1999. Since then, the two universities have conducted a mutual academic researcher exchange program, as well as the exchange of scholarly information. During their visit this time, members from the Guilin University of Technology observed experiments and participated in discussions with research groups from departments such as the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the Department of Electrical and Computer Science, and the Department of Materials Science and Technology. Ties between the two universities were further deepened as a result of the visit.
