Kumamoto University has dormitories, one which holds 280 undergraduate Japanese students who are enrolled at the university and another known as “The International House" that is designed to house international students and foreign researchers.
The International House consists of two buildings, block A and B, and is located at the foot of Mt. Tatsuda, 1.5 km east of the Kurokami campus.
At present, its 112 rooms accommodate students and researchers from over 30 countries.
Living at the International House are international students from countries all over the world who have come to Kumamoto University to study and/or do research.
Various facets of student life can be seen at the International House,
such as people talking with each other in the lounge area, people making foods from their own native countries, and people who leave their rooms early in the morning to head to school.
