Bioelectrics Research Center

Sougoujouhoukiban-center

Bioelectrics refers to biological reactions that occur in response to certain extreme phenomena such as non-equilibrium or high energy density states, including pulsed power, pulsed electronic fields/ magnetic fields/ electromagnetic waves, plasma, shock waves, supergravity, supercritical states, and to the application of studies using bioelectric theory.

This is a relatively new research field, and makes use of the conventional academic disciplines of electricity, machinery, chemistry and life science. The unique biological reactions that occur under extreme bioelectric conditions have increasingly relevant applications in various fields, including biotechnology, environment science, healthcare, food and agriculture.

The Bioelectrics Research Center was established in October, 2007 to advance the academic development of Bioelectrics, and to use these developments to contribute to society. The Center consists of the four departments of Basic Bioelectrics, Extreme Bioelectrics, Environmental Bioelectrics, and Medical Bioelectrics. Generation and control of the extreme environments mentioned above, analysis of biological reactions, and the applied study of these have been conducted in the center.

The University completed agreements with four international research institutions in Bioelectrics, and is actively involved in international research activities that include dispatching and accepting researchers and students, conducting regular internet web conferences, and participating in international conferences.
